[Heathkit] MR-1 spring problem

I presently have a homebrew spring in my Mohawk but acquired a replacement
that I have yet to install. The replacement is an original spring that was
from a parted out radio. The are 6 turns and measures about 7/8" in diameter
so Mike's 1 inch dimension is pretty close.
