[Heathkit] HW-16 final amp

Hi, Mike. If you want to beef up the power on a HW-16 enough for the
guy at the other end to notice it, there's an article floating around on
how to mate it with a SB-200 linear. Short of that, there probably
isn't enough dB's difference to be gained to make it worthwhile. Better
to put your effort and cash into the best antenna you can afford,
especially on 15 meters.

The other transmitter mods that come to mind have largely to do with
eliminating chirp, although there's a very simple one involving the tank
coil that should help your power out a little bit on 15. Seems like
most HW-16's put out 35-40 watts on 15 "as-built". Spreading certain
turns of the coil apart can *sometimes* get you up around 50W on 15 like
Ken's.

Now, if your looking for mods to do, there's a lot of good ones you can
do for the receiver to hop it up. I'm in the process of getting a new
web-site up and I plan to have a section of HW-16 mods on it. In the
meantime, I can dig some out and get them to you to give you an idea of
things that can be done.

73,
Tom
