[Heathkit] Calibrating VF-1?

Randy,

Do you have the main tuning capacitor and dial properly indexed?  See 
page 12 of the manual about mid way down for the indexing procedure.

Once you have the frequency calibrated you can peak the output by 
adjusting the output coils for the two ranges.  In general, good active 
crystals are likely to provide more excitation than the VFO.
