[Heathkit] SB-610 Question

I recapped mine and the beam length is approx 1/2 the width of the tube.

The beam still has some horizontal jitters. Can anyone pinpoint the cause?

The horizontal display on my 610 is only about 1/2 the width of the 
tube, or maybe a bit bigger.   Is this typical, or should it be full 
width?   I haven't recapped the unit yet, so I can see where that may be 
the issue.
