Trying to add 6M to a HF amp is certainly butchering in my book. None of
those mods are worth the paper they were printed on.

Since a SB-220 is not exactly rare converting to a 6M monobander does not
destroy its value. In fact well built ones bring a premium. A proper
conversion does not require any butchering either, no new holes are
necessary.

See the link for some info.

Subject: [Heathkit] SB-200 6m Mod

I have been reading through all the mod info for putting the SB-200 amp on
6m in the 10m position and keeping the rest of the HF bands intact. Seems
like there is a lot of differences between each persons mod. Is there a
definitive version of this mod that everyone would recommend? The main
thing to me is cost and avoiding damage to the amp. I don't want to cut it
up or butcher it just to use it on 6.

Thanks and 73,

Scott KB0NLY
