[Heathkit] HR-10B Question

I decided the other day to re-fire the old 10b. But their seems to be a slight problem that maybe someone can help me with.The rx is as hot as they can get,pulls in the weakest signal just like it did when I built it.All tubes have been checked,all are good to go.But when it rx a modulated signal of any type the s meter moves backwards with the modulation instead of forward.Anyone ever had this problem before? Any help would be appreciated to get this corrected.Merry Christmas to all the green glowers that keep the world smiling.
