My local building inspector says

"connect the incoming shield to the neutral bar in the new box; connect the
ground rod to the ground (green) bar that goes out to the third terminal on
each outlet (gold = black-hot, silver = white-neut, green = bare-ground)"

you will receive other opinions based on local codes and varying degrees of
knowledge... why not consult your local city/county 'experts' for the final
word ?
