[Heathkit] DX-60 Repair Adventure, Which Sideband?

Although DSB suppressed carrier is possible, it will take extensive
modification of the DX-60. And those on the receiving end will need to
receive the signal via a SSB detection system. I view little to be gained
from the experiment.
Better to make some "no holes required" changes in the audio circuit of the
DX-60, converting it to classic screen modulation which produces great
sounding audio. Then drive a linear amp to about 250 watts output. That
makes for an outstanding signal. If you are interested in the changes
required, I have written info that I'll be glad to supply. It has also been
published on some of the AM sites.
