I've been active on 3880 and 3885 for several years with a Heath DX-60
running carrier control modulation and screen modulation and more recently a
Heath TX-1 Apache.
As we approach Fall and Winter the atmospheric noise lessens and thus makes
QSO's much more enjoyable in the evenings.
