Nice receiver eh?
When you're done with the work you will like it. The sensitivity is very
good. End to end the 500 khz dial should be not more than 2 khz off. The LMO
was factory made. Don't mess with it unless you have a serious situation
I had one of the large caps in the audio board go out on mine so I replaced
them all. The power resistors should be checked also while your there.
Here's some stuff about the SB 303 that's pretty common:
You may have to rock the bandswitch to get it work correctly. It's caused
by the way it was designed. Vertical boards with wafers soldered to them
and a long shaft thru it.
I think you could make it better but I doubt if it can be completely
elminated.
The S meter will read high but you can resistor change your way into more
accurate defelction.
An extender board will help alot with troubleshooting but those boards are
kinda rare.
If you have a warped frequency dial or the other plastic stuff you can shim
the front panel away from the chassis and still use the warped read-out
stuff.
Overall, it is a very good receiver with outstanding sensitivity. The more
filters the better and I have seen many with all installed. I say the 303 is
well worth the effort and if you work weak cw sigs, it's a killer it's 1/2
of the Benton Harbor S line.
Hi Collins guys!!
