[Heathkit] Help with removing of knobs.

If you can, put the knobs so the setscrew are facing up and put one drop of
penetrating oil in the hole. Let it sit for a day or so, then use a
jewelers screwdriver to wedge in the screw head and back them out.

Or... if you have a soldering iron with a long, skinny tip, you can heat the
screw a bit and probably break it loose, then used the jewelers screwdriver.
THIS IS DANGEROUS TO THE KNOB!!!

Or, you can drill out the head, starting small and going up one size at a
time. Eventually, the setscrew will lose grip on the shaft and the knob
will come off. Then you can use a small screwdriver to back what's left of
the setscrew out.

I used these methods literally hundreds of times on aircraft control boxes
when I was in the Air Force and they all work well.

Subject: [Heathkit] Help with removing of knobs.

I have two knobs on an SB-100 which have had the Allen screws stripped and
can't be removed.
The Allen Key just turns in the screw.
I have gone to the next size up but no go.
Before I start to invent ways of removing these things can I get any ideas?
I do not want to destroy the knobs since I am in need of them for a
restoration project.
I have more screws so those can go since they are stripped anyway.
Thank in advance,
Dan/N4VET
