[Heathkit] Heathkits: Rebuild or Homebrew?

Not Ham gear, but I have built clones of the Heathkit W4 (Tube) and AA-1640 
(solid state) audio amplifiers.  The 1640 was one of the hardest homebrew 
projects I have ever undertaken.
