Oh, I don't think that's the case at all.

It's a matter of where you want to put your loose change.  If I had enough
loose change, I'd enjoy nothing better than finding AND building an HW-101
or SB-102 or SB-220, etc. (with a few updated parts in the process).  It
would be a trip in time better than anything you could get on a sugar cube.
Heck, I'd be happy (maybe happier) with something as mundane as an unbuilt
AR-3, DX-20 or DX-40.

It's really no different than spending a fortune on a KW-1, or a nice set of
Gold Dust Twins, or a Johnson KW, or whatever.  Except in the case of
unbuilt kits, it has nothing to do with the purchase price or the resale
value of the box when your done -- it's all about the process.

I'd happily trade my CCA/E KWS-1 -- maybe more -- for an unbuilt and
unopened SB-102.  Offers? :-)
