[Heathkit] re HG10-B vfo

The HG-10(*) VFO can be very stable.

I used one for a couple of years with my HW-16.

However, the stability is dependent to a great degree on the condition
of the oscillator tube, the 6CH8.

I had to try several NIB ones before I found one that suited my idea of
stability, even on 40 meters.

The difference in both long and short-term stability, and to keying
quality, due to just the tube was quite striking.

Once I found a good one, the quality of the VFO never changed while I
used it.

It is a good rig. The only thing I didn't like about it is that it doesn't cover
160 meters. So now I use a VF-1 with my HW-16 and other rigs. It is
equally as stable as the HG-10 when properly restored. Besides, as I've
said before, I really like the funky green dial.
