Dan,
An "exacto> knife handle with a blade that is PERPENDICULAR to the LONG
axis of the handle.
Slowly and GENTLY work it into the CENTER of the EXISTING insert.
Slowly and carefully lift the "old" insert. These inserts were attached
with a "contact" cement/adhesive.
It will take time and effort. I'm not sure what or how to clean the
knob afterward.
Perhaps "Goof Off" will work - BUT - you must "TEST" this cleaner on the
same material SOMEWHERE to determine whether or not it will DAMAGE the
knob material.
The replacement insert can be put in place using "contact
cement/adhesive" one again.
Best of Luck! Let us know how this progresses AND works out!
My very FIRST rig was a Heath SB-102, a PS-23, and SP-600.
I'd love to do it, My first Novice Station, again! Don't know what this
would cost me to acquire. Just don't want TRASH. Want something
reasonably working/restorable.
Have TS-820S w/VFO to trade. Works fine. Just need to put in finals.
I removed them for an Apache.
