I agree...the "Tommy Rockford" books should never have been rewritten. In the 1980s I was very disappointed after buying the whole set, finding it was full of kids running around with HTs, so I donated the whole batch to a thrift store. Even then, already, I was tiring of the League's incessant propaganda. Anyway...if you'd like some GREAT substitutes for the "tainted" Tommy Rockford series redieux I heartily recommend these substitutes: CALLING W1XYZ, (Jimmy Kean and the Radio Spies series) by Thorf McClusky. These are in a small book format known as "Better Little Books" and published by Whitman Publishing Co in the 1939-era. Another GREAT series of books are the "Radio Boys" series from about the same era and most titled start with "Radio Boys Mystery of _____." And OF COURSE get hold of some 1950s and 60s Popular Electronics and enjoy John Frye's CARL AND JERRY stories that were a monthly feature.
