Adding to Ken's comments, the HW-101 VFO is capable of
pretty good linearity. When I did the alignment on
one I bought last year, I was able to get both ends of
the 500 kHz tuning range, and all 100kHz points in the
range, within 1 kHz. Mind you, it did take a lot of
fiddling with the VFO trimmers to achieve that.
Back in the 1970's, I had an SB-100, and this HW-101
is better performing, VFO-wise, than my SB-100. The
SB-100's LMO tended to "warble" when I tuned. I
didn't know enough back then, nor have the test gear
that I have now, to enable me to try to cure the
problem.
Thanks, Ken for the info on the SB-102 LMO. I wasn't
aware of the issues with the solid state LMO.
73,
Ted KX4OM
