Think about it, it  IS the blind leading the blind ......
I admire your chutzpah for even trying to fix this old BA.....if you want I
will give you a land line and try to get this going.

As Pete sez. The Crystal was a fundamental FT-243.
If you run your fingernail on one side you should feel the etching of the
manufacturer and the crystal frequency.
If there is no etching, then you don't have a crystal, but some other kind
of connector.
