Some FT-243's will do that. Try HC-6/U crystals. They have less holder 
capacitance. You might try disassembling the FT-243 and cleaning it. 
That will either cure it or kill it. I have one FT-243 in my collection 
from the Novice days that suffers from low activity and typically chirps.

One other thing: If there is an oscillator peaking coil, do not adjust 
it for a peak, but tune it slightly off on the "slow side" of the peak.

The HG-10 should not chirp unless you have a poor 6CH8 tube. I had chirp 
with the VFO for a time, but replacing the tube cured it.
