Hello to the Group,
Reference the discussions on the Diodes in both the sb-620 & sb-610.
Couple months ago we had this discussion at length when I was replacing
these myself.
Had expert opinions that the 1N4007 diodes were probably the best.
You can get them from Mouser Electronics as Part Number: 583-1N4007-B at $ .03 cents each.
They ship fast - same day as order.
I got a hand full & replaced all the seleniums with 2 each 1N4007.
I've replaced all the electrolytic & tubular caps in both with higher voltage ones.
Some of the .02mfd caps I've replaced with "orange drops".
A source for these caps is JustRadio which is in Canada & is listed as an eBay Store.
His prices are good but it takes a week or two to receive as it goes through Canadian Customs.
I've tested all the caps that i've gotten from him and have not found a single one as bad.
The values have also been within the rated percentages he advertises.
The 2500mfd cap in the sb-620 is a hard one to find.
Mouser has it at $6.00 each but its too big & really won't fit in.
I've instead gotten the 3300mfd which is small. Either Radial or Axial leads. No Biggie though.
A bunch of the resistors in the Focus & Intensity pot areas also need to be replaced to bring the units up to snuff.
Resistors can be obtained from Mouser as well. I'll be glad to furnish Ordering Part Numbers if interested.
Resisters from Mouser run $ .14 cents each.
