Hi Mark, and welcome aboard! The HW-101 is a classic. Over 30,000
(Penson puts the figure at closer to 40,00) were sold, making it the
most popular rig of all time.
On the mic plug, try RF connection. You can find them on the www. For
the 11 pin connector, try Digikey or Ocean State Electronics. I'll check
my Digikey catalog tomorrow.
Heath recommended 6146A's because the different internal capacitance of
the 6146B could make neutralization difficult. There was a thread on
this awhile back. When 6146's and 6146A's became obsolete and harder to
get, I think Heath decided that the "B" was an OK substitute. I run
6146B's in My HW-100 with no trouble.
Any HW-101 manual should be fine. I don't think there were any
significant revisions to the HW-101. Somebody's web site has the Heath
service bulletin, I just don't know who.
