[Heathkit] AT-1 Question

I have used link coupling with many rigs I have built over the years.

However, I always install a large variable capacitor between the cold end of
the link and ground. I.e., I lift the grounded end of the link from ground and
install a large value variable cap between the link and ground. The last one I
used was 1000 pfd with a 2.5 turn link on 80 meters.

This allows me to adjust the output to match a 50 ohm load. Further, the link
capacitor then acts somewhat like the "loading" capacitor in a Pi-Net.

Then I ALWAYS feed the output into a good antenna coupler.

This takes care of any harmonics.

I've used this method for years. I understand it was quite common in the
1930s.

So far, I have not received any OO reports...
