[Heathkit] eBay purchase

Hello all,

I wanted to make everyone aware of a seller to avoid on eBay,  The item =
number purchased was 3068599157, an SB-230 amp.  You can see the =
description on eBay.  Basically, it says the unit is perfect.

It arrives with holes drilled in the one of the cabinet straps.  It was =
packed in soft foam and peanuts.  There was no fragile warning on the =
package.  The unit was unwrapped in the box.  No bubble pack or anything =
around it.

The unit is badly dented on a rear corner and is full of peanut =
scrapings.

I wrote to Frank, WA7CYC (the shipper)and asked what he is willing to do =
and he isn't willing to do anything except notify FedEx who won't do =
anything since it was the shippers bad packing that caused the problem.

Here is his reply:

"I am sorry it arrived damaged the unit is insured. As far as the two =
additional holes in the side strap, I did not put any importance on them =
because they did not have any impact upon the performance of the amp and =
were not visible from the front. I have shipped a lot of equipment =
around this country, you are the first person to complain about the way =
it was packed, could the damage be because of the way the shipper =
handled the item.  I don't plan to do any thing except notify the =
shipper that the item arrived damaged. You seem to be predisposed the =
this all my fault. About the manual, read the original description, I =
did not state there was a manual. It is very unfortunate that this =
happened. Frank."

My purpose here is to warn anyone contemplating purchasing anything from =
him to avoid him at all costs.  He is not a reliable seller.  He hides =
important information and will not stand behind his mistakes.
