Dan, are all of the sections bad or just one or two? Reason I'm asking =
is that if its only 1 or 2, you might consider just disconnecting those =
sections and place a modern small radial or axial lead electrolytic =
under the chassis. Granted, if 1 section is bad, its likely the others =
aren't too far behind. I did this exact thing on my 75A4, had one bad =
section, and a contest starting in a few hours, so I just removed the =
wire from the leaky section and put a new replacement under the hood. =
Someday I'll replace the rest but its been working fine for several =
years now :)
I can't comment on rebuilding the cardboard cap cuz I"ve never tried it. =
I've heard of others opening up the metal cans anyway, pulling out the =
guts, slipping in modern caps, soldering the can and base back together. =
I haven't heard of one doing that to a cardboard cap. I've heard that =
Frontier Electronics rebuilds multisection caps, so maybe that is an =
option if the amp is valuable. =20
Is there enough room under the chassis to squeeze new caps?
