Converter connectors are readily available at Radio Shack anbd other
electronic outlets. The only problem with using them, especially with RG-8 or 11 is
the they put a lot of strain on the RCA chassis mount which usually results in
a faulty connection after time, or a complete connector failure.

There are 2 ways to do this otherwise. If you don't mind drilling the
chassis out a bit, yopu can substitute a BNC connector which only requires a small
enlargement of the current hole. If you are really brave, go for a SO-239
neatly installed. If you are a purist, anbd there is nothing wrong with that, make
yp a short pigtail with a male RCA on one end and a male PL-259 on the other.
Then you can use a barrel to accept a male PL-258 from the feedline. If you
are really lucky, you might find ancable mount 239 female connector. They
exist, but are difficult to find.

Either way, the object is to remove stress from the chassis mount RCA
connector any way you can.

Happy New Year, 73 and good luck,

John, W4AWM
