There is an adjustment pot inside to zero the ALC meter in
transmit with no modulation.

The final is class AB1, there should be NO grid current
during SSB operation, and less than 1 ma (FS) during CW
A non-peak responding wattmeter may very well only
show 10-20 watts output.

Showing 50 watts out during SSB with a non-peak reading meter
more than likely means your over driving it.

The ALC meter will peg during receive, and if the zero pot
is properly adjusted, read zero with the rig keyed with
NO modulation. The REL output means little, it can be
adjusted to read any desired amount by the pot mounted
on the front of the final cage.
