Collins actually advertised the 75A4 along with the
KWS-1 as "the first really new Amateur communication
system, designed especially for Single Sideband as
well as AM and CW operation". I am quoting directly
from the advertisement for what has become known as
the "Gold Dust Twins".
I got a comment in a "private" E-Mail that maybe
"companion" is a better term to use than "matching".
There is some rationality in that statement!

Matching to me since the early 50's has meant
style/looks, not necessarily frequency range. I doubt
anyone will disagree that the Collins 75A-4 receiver,
KWS-1 transmitter and 312A-1 speaker are a true
"matching" system (Gold Dust Twins by any other name),
yet the 75A-4 covers 160 meters and the KWS-1 does not.
