Hi Dan;

Maybe the tuning condenser plates are touching. A pretty common problem.
I have spent hours with a piece of shim stock and an ohmmeter to get all
the plates aligned in a damaged tuning cap. An ohmmeter across each
section should show if they touch at anyplace as you run it through it's
range.

Re the pilot lights. They are in series and you apparently have a short
to ground after the first one. This shorts out the other two and gives
the one the full voltage. Good luck.
