The 572's should have a standard 4 pin tube base. Two pins larger than the others!
(Pins 1 and 4) You can't plug it in wrong unless it is forced or socket is brokwn or
enlarged.

Subject: [Heathkit] A couple SB-200 questions.

| Hello All,
|
| I just picked up a SB-200 that
| apparently has not been used in several
| years.
|
| A couple quick questions to the guru's
| on the list.
|
| I have a variac that I can use to bring the
| AC supply voltage up slowly for the first time.
| Is that a wise thing to do?
|
| Should I think about replacing the supply
| caps? Or anything else?
|
| The 572's were just sitting in the cabinet,
| what is the correct orientation for the tubes
| (based on the little tab).
|
| Can anyone recommend a good book on
| tube circuitry? I have a very good understanding
| of digital electronics but am frankly pretty
| ignorant with tube equipment.
|
| Tnx & 73,
|
| Paul
