[Heathkit] A couple SB-200 questions.

Hello All,

 I just picked up a SB-200 that
apparently has not been used in several=20
years.=20

A couple quick questions to the guru's=20
on the list.=20

I have a variac that I can use to bring the=20
AC supply voltage up slowly for the first time.
Is that a wise thing to do?

Should I think about replacing the supply
caps? Or anything else?

The 572's were  just sitting in the cabinet,
what is the correct orientation for the tubes
(based on the little tab).

Can anyone recommend a good book on=20
tube circuitry? I have a very good understanding
of digital electronics but am frankly pretty=20
ignorant with tube equipment.
