Hi All,
On vacation, in a pawn shop, I picked up a little test meter I've =
never seen before.
Heath Model EK-1. It's a 'little lunch box' about 7 1/2 w X 4 1/2 h X =
4 d, with a carrying handle.
The meter face has the 'old' "Heathkit" script, and 'educational series' =
underneath it. That's probably=20
why I've never seen it before.=20
Strictly a very basic self contained tester, DC Volts 5-10-50-100-500 ; =
DC Ma 1-5-10-50-100-500=20
The AC indication is just that: a neon bulb with a current limiting =
resistor inside.
The Ohms is a single "Ohms" selection on the "DC Volts / Ohms" rotary =
selector switch, with the meter=20
movement showing the Ohms scale as 0 - 20K (almost full scale) then =
infinity. Also, a red push
button switch labeled 'Press for low Ohms - divide scale by 10'.
It's the cutest little meter. I haven't cleaned it up yet, just the =
normal dust and accumulation.
All printing is sound and complete. The only thing cosmetically is one =
of the five banana jacks
( a black one) is 3/4 broken off. These are the early panel mount jacks, =
almost flush with the
face of the panel and the bakelite? insulator about 1/2 in diameter.
Most functions work, the 50 and 100 DC V. do not. Meter movement is good =
electrically.
Would anyone have any information on this little thing, like a =
schematic?
Wonder if there is any collector interest in this, I picked it up for $ =
10.00 and would really=20
like to get it to someone who would enjoy having it in their collection.
Sorry for the short novel, and the bandwidth.
