I've used old plastic alignment tools to replace the broken followers for
years... the type from Radio Shack... I simply clip off the center finger grip
part, roughly 3/16' long, and leave another 1/8" length of the alignment shaft
which fits into the groove... Then I take my spare 'needle-point' soldering tip,
and melt a preliminary hole into the center of the approx. 3/16 long section of
the finger grip from the alignment tool, then while it's still warm, thread the
original mounting screw into it through the follower arm...seeing as thhe
follower itself doesn't need to turn, getting the hole exactly cetnered is not
crucial... I've got an SB-400 that has been 'fixed' this way and used for over
15 years...I did try to use a small screw, but found the grinding noise to be a
little disconcerting..!!! ymmv.... 73 de Jordan...
