[Heathkit] Information about Tube Tester IT-17

Hello everyone:
       I have a Heathkit IT-17 tube tester but no manual. On the chart by 
some of the tube numbers there is an asterisk (*). Some of the lever settings 
have the letters inside parenthesis, such as (AC) (EG) FJ. I don't have a 
clue what the asterisk or the parenthesis around the letters mean.
       I don't want to ruin a tube at today's prices. Can anyone help me 
discover what these symbols mean to do or not do? Would a manual (i.e., a 
"reprint") would inform me?
