The utility that I worked for over 10 years until they
eliminated the telecommunications department in May of
1999 (Texas Utilities - now TXU on the stock
market)uses 125 volts and "tries" for +/- 1%.
However, the line voltage at my house in the Dallas,
Texas, area is usually in the 127 volt range during
the summer months (a little over + 1.5%). This is due
to the very heavy load because of the air conditioning
in Texas.
Because of this, I recommend use of 130 volt light
bulbs from the home improvement center rather than the
120 volt light bulbs from the grocery store. The 130
volt ones are cheaper and last a lot longer.
