Hello to the group,
I recently picked up one of these. With both rectifier tubes removed, the
unit still blows fuses.
There is clearly a dead short somewhere. I have been over the wiring
several times and can not see a short.
The two VFO tube filiments illuminate ok, so that transformer is ok.
Next, I will disconnect all wires to the accessory plug to eliminate that
wiring.
I suspect that the main transformer has a short. How can this transformer
be tested? Is there an ohm value that is appropriate for the HV, LV, and
three filiment windings, or is there a way to power it separately to test
the various sections?
Thanks for any suggestions on transformer testing.
Sincerely,
Jim Temple
