I completed the alignment with only one problem. First, here are the
power out/current readings: Keep in mind that these are older finals
and both are 6146B's. I have new A's which shoud improve power out on
15/10M as well as make neutralization easier.
3.7 130W/210ma,
7.2 120/210
14.2 100/200
21.2 60/175
28.2 60/225
28.7 60/225
29.2 20/225
29.7 20/225
As you may notice, I get 60W on 28 and 20W on 29, but to get that I
had to align the driver grid/plate on 28.2 instead of 29.2 as it calls
for in the book. Is this normal for the driver grid and plate coils to
be so selective?
Also, from day one when I built the rig back in '70, the mike/cw level
does not respond until it gets around to about 1 to 2 o'clock.
This is not too important since the rig tunes fine but just curious if
that is the norm.
Has anybody noticed that the idle plate current (bias) is higher in
TUNE than when the mike is keyed? Just a little bit but I set it with
the mike keyed. It's not a big deal, again, just curious.
