[Heathkit] need help - HW-9

the Main dial on my HW-9 moves properly from the 0 mark to about the 70
mark on the dial...at the 70 mark, it stops...
...I took the silver shield off after unsoldering the coax leads...then I
watch the gear drive travel across the notched "wheel" which in turn moves
the variable capacitor...when it stops at the 70 mark I really can't see
why it's stopping...
...I really like this rig and don't want to screw things up while fixing
this problem...so assuming someone else has run into it, I'm asking for
helpful ideas which will allow me to fix it please...thank you...
