Happy New Year everyone!

The first 2010 edition of Zero Beat is on the web site, perhaps in your
email box and on the way to USPS. If your virtual dog ate yours before you
could read it you can get it at: http://www.hcra.org/zerobeat/jan10.pdf. Of
note in this month's edition is an update on the Rock-Mite building project
and other interesting stuff.

The January meeting features Rob Macedo, KD1CY, of Skywarn and National
Weather fame! Many of you know Rob, perhaps having met him at an earlier
HCRA or MTARA meeting. Rob will be stopping by to fill us in on weather
events from 2009, talk about upcoming Skywarn training classes and explain
how amateur radio and NWS can work together to create a safer environment
for the general public. At a time when many public agencies are stepping
back NWS, with help from Rob, has been actively forging a stronger bond with
our hobby.

We have some great raffle prizes on hand as well, including a Midland
Weather Alert radio and HCRA wear. And of course coffee, donuts and a great
group of hams from around the area. You can count on this month's meeting to
be of interest to everyone, hams and non-hams alike. A perfect opportunity
to bring a friend, relative or neighbor.

'73, see you Friday,

Jim, KK1W
