[HCRA] Rookie Roundup - are you ready for some fun in April?

Hey folks,

 

This is just a teaser about the new ARRL 'contest' called "Rookie Roundup".
The rules have just been released and the phone (SSB) portion will be April
18, 2010. Here's a link to the rules, they will also be published in April
QST.

It's only a six hour event so you won't have to make a lot of excuses to the
family on this one!

 

At the HCRA board of directors meeting tonight we agreed HCRA should get
behind the event and encourage as many folks as possible to 'get on the
air'. We realize many new hams either lack experience or an adequate
station. To help in these areas many HCRA members will be offering mentoring
or even opening up their stations if you want to get some 'on the air time'
in the roundup.

 

So how many of you would like to give it a try? Please respond to the
mailing list if you do. We can use this list as the clearing ground for
mentors, operators, stations - you get the idea.

 

I'll start it out by offering up the KK1W shack to anyone that wants to give
it a try. The way I interpret the rules there can only be one operator from
any given station. Since there isn't a multi-operator category that means
the first person to sign up will be the only person that gets to operate.
April 18th - are you in?
