[HCRA] See spot run!

If you use DX Summit, http://www.dxsummit.fi/, you'll note more DX is being
spotted on 10 and 15 meters, although not always by NA stations. In any
event, ops are getting on those bands more frequently, and you may luck out.

If you're unfamiliar with DX Summit, it's a great site and includes some
basic prop info, among other things.

ARRL posts a propagation report from K7RA (get it?) every Friday on its Web
site. This also shows up in The ARRL Letter.

Hey gang!

It looks like solar cycle 24 is finally getting under way. Here's a reprint
from the ARRL's Contest Rate Sheet this week:

BULLETINS

It was just such welcome news that it seemed appropriate to run this item
from <http://spaceweather.com/> SpaceWeather.com as a bulletin: "Solar
observers haven't seen an active region like [#1024] in more than two years.
It is big, complex, and rapidly growing. The magnetic polarity of the
sunspot, revealed by SOHO magnetograms, show that it is a member of new
Solar Cycle 24. This makes sense: New research shows that solar jet streams
are beginning to stimulate new-cycle sunspot production. Sunspot 1024
appears to be a sign of the process at work, heralding more to come."

Now doesn't that sound exciting?

It won't be long until the 10 and 15 meter bands are open for big portions
of the day. Good DX at last.

Haven't got your General license yet? Stop procrastinating and get to it.
The next Western Mass VE Team test is Friday, July 24th at the Holyoke
Hospital Auditorium - 6:00 PM sharp. See you there.

'73 and have fun,

Jim, KK1W
