After writing my last post, it occurred to me that I missed a golden opportunity
so, I will post again to the main list though this is a field day related 
message.

Larry said: "Max score is the most important thing that weekend! "

I think Larry was speaking "tongue in cheek" there.  This year's HCRA field
day toggle switch is set to "MAX_FUN", not "MAX_SCORE".  Yes, the score
is important to some, but it has been my past experience that when you
start with MAX_FUN at field day, you end up with MAX_SCORE as a result.  
The opposite is NOT true.

Field day is meant to be a teaching exercise.  A teaching exercise, not just
about contesting, but operating in general.  For instance, GOTA station will be 
setup more as a teaching station than a contest station.  MAX_EDUCATION
will be the goal there -- time limits will be enforced when others are
waiting to operate, regardless of band conditions.

Done right, field day is also the 
biggest social event of the year for HCRA.  Every member (and non-memeber)
is invited and should find their way to Dufresne Park, even if just a few 
minutes to 'check us out' and enjoy good friends, good food, good fun.
