Hello to all….

…..Heavy Rainfall and the Potential for Minor to Possibly Pockets of
Moderate Flooding Remain Possible for Much of Southern New England. Flood
Watches Expanded Eastward….

…..A Flood Watch is now in effect from this evening through late Saturday
Night for Hillsborough County New Hampshire, Eastern Massachusetts from
Norfolk County Northward including the Greater Boston area and Northwest
Rhode Island….

…..A Flood Watch continues for Southwest New Hampshire, Central and
Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut from 8 AM Friday through
late Saturday Night….

…..Potential for 2-4” of rain with isolated amounts as high as 6” remain
a threat in the Flood Watch area. Outside the flood watch area 1-3” of
rain is possible….

…..Amateur Radio VoIP New England Network/Reflector Test set for 730 PM
EDT Friday Evening….

…..SKYWARN Activation with Ops at NWS Taunton is Possible anytime during
the Flood Watch timeframe especially on Saturday and possibly Sunday….

Heavy Rainfall and the potential for mintor to possibly pockets of
moderate flooding remain a threat for the region. The Flood Watch has
been expanded to include Northeast Massachusetts from Norfolk County
northward through South-Central New Hampshire as well as Northwest Rhode
Island for this evening through late Saturday Night and the Flood Watch
continues for Southeast New Hampshire, Central and Western Massachusetts
and Northern Connecticut from 8 AM through late Saturday Night. At 745
AM, Doppler Radar showed a conveyor of heavy rain just beginning to work
its way into the Connecticut River Valley. The precipitation is moving
east as the conveyor belt of rain moves Northwest off the ocean. Heavy
rain will spread into the Connecticut River Valley this morning and
Central Massachusetts around midday with the heavy rain spreading
eastward into Rhode Island and Eastern Massachusetts this evening.

In the Flood Watch area, the potential remains for 2-4” of rainfall with
amounts as high as 6” possible. It is not clear where the heaviest axis
of rainfall will occur. Some models are calling for the heaviest rain in
Northeast Massachusetts and the Merrimack River Valley while others are
focusing the heaviest rainfall on Central Massachusetts and Northern
Rhode Island. As we get closer to the event, these details will become
more clear. Outside the Flood Watch area, 1-3” of rain is possible with
the lesser amounts over Cape Cod and the Islands.

SKYWARN Activation with Ops at NWS Taunton is possible anytime during the
Flood Watch timeframe especially on Saturday and possibly Sunday but
could occur as early as Friday Night. The situation will be monitored
closely.

Also, it is noted that the Amateur Radio New England VoIP Network has
been moved to a new system. On the EchoLink side, the connection is still
via *NEW-ENG*, Node #: 9123 but the IRLP reflector has changed to 9123.
This is a new system with similar functionality as the previous one and
on Friday Evening at 730 PM EDT, we’d like to test the system as there
has been an intermittent issue that we need to determine if the issue
still exists and whether it is related to the amount of stations
connected and rectify the issue ASAP if required. The timeframe of the
test will be fine-tuned in the next coordination message based on the
progress of potential heavy rain and flooding. Please note that the NWS
Taunton office will be using all typical means to get reports including
VHF/UHF repeaters, 6 Meters, HF, Email, AOL Instant Messenger and even
voice Simplex if required as we’ve done for many years and Friday Night
is a test of the new VoIP system to determine if it is as robust as the
previous system and if not, fix the potential issue so it can remain
another valuable tool in the tool box for communications from NWS
Taunton.

The next coordination message will be posted by 1130 PM this evening
unless formal Ops at NWS Taunton occurs this evening. If that occurs, a
short message will be issued stating formal Ops has been requested and
the next coordination message will be preempted. Below is the Flood Watch
statement and the Hazardous Weather Outlook from NWS Taunton:
