The following is an announcement on the Emergency 
Communications Workshop in Walpole, Massachusetts. This has

Amateur Radio Emergency Communications Workshop 
Saturday April 8th, 2006:

There will be an Emergency Communications Workshop on 
Saturday April 8th, 2006 from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM at the Walpole 
Town Hall, 135 School Street in Walpole, Massachusetts.

This session is being put on by the ARES Section Staff through 
the efforts of Roger Turner-W1ZSA, town of Walpole 
Emergency Management Director. This Emergency 
Communications Workshop will provide the background and 
information to serve Amateur Radio Operators when they need 
to respond to a communications emergency. It will feature an 
Introduction and Conclusion to Emergency Communications, 
and five 1-hour training sessions on topics including:

Overview of Eastern Massachusetts ARES-RACES-SKYWARN 
Programs
Net Operations
NTS Traffic Message Handling
Basic Overview of ICS
Go Kits
Interactive Exercises on Field Operations

This training will also feature a 1-hour lunch that will be 
provided at no coerced cost to any Amateur who attends the 
session.

The presentations will be given by other Amateur Operators 
well versed in the topics listed above. The training will be a 
worthwhile endeavor not just for emergency communicators 
but for anyone who is an Amateur Radio Operator, and wants 
to learn more about the hobby.

Preregistration is requested but is not required in case anyone 
would like to attend at the last minute. Please try to preregister 
by Monday April 3rd, 2006 to assure the meeting place is setup 
properly and we have enough refreshments for breaks between 
lectures and for the lunch break. We will, however, accept any 
last minute preregistrations after that  day or any walk-ins as 
long as space permits.

>From Boston:
Take Route 95 south to Exit 10 - Coney Street.  Turn right at 
top of exit ramp. Turn left at the lights on to Route 1.  (The 
Walpole Mall will be on the right)

Take Route 27 (High Plain Street) at next set of lights at top of 
hill. Big Y is on left. Route 27 X through 3 sets of traffic lights. 
Route 27 (High Plain Street) merges left onto East Street.  Take 
left onto School Street (after passing Blessed Sacrament 
Church on left at Diamond Street).  The Town Hall (former 
school building) is on right. Parking is in the rear.  Entrance to 
meeting room is on left as you face the rear of building.

>From the South:
Take Route 95 north to Exit 9 - Route 1.  
Take Route 1 north to lights at Route 27 (High Plain Street) 
(Applebee's on your right).  At lights take left onto Route 27
(High Plain Street).  Big Y is on left. Route 27 X through 3 sets 
of traffic lights. Rout 27 (High Plain Street) merges 
left onto East Street. Take left onto School Street (after passing 
Blessed Sacrament Church on left at Diamond Street).  The 
Town Hall (former school building) is on right. Parking is in the 
rear. Entrance to meeting room is on left as you face the rear 
of building.

>From the west - Medfield - Route 109
Take Route 27 to Walpole Center.  Through set of lights at 
Route 1A, (Main Street).  School Street is the next intersection.  
Right onto School Street. The Town Hall (former school 
building) is on right.  Parking in rear. Entrance to meeting room 
is on left as you face the rear of building.

There will be talk-in on the 146.895-Walpole Repeater, PL: 
123.0.
