Subject: Hurricane Outlooks/Preparation Information and Advice
Hello to all....
There will be some updates on hurricane outlooks in the coming weeks.
On Tuesday April 4th, Dr. Gray will be updating his seasonal
outlook. You can view that new outlook when it becomes available as
well as previous outlooks from Dr. Gray at the following link:
http://hurricane.atmos.colostate.edu/forecasts/
The NOAA Hurricane Outlook will be issued on May 22nd and will most
likely be available on the National Hurricane Center's Web site at
the following link:
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/
The National Hurricane Center has announced Hurricane Preparedness
Week. It is the week of May 21st through May 27th, 2006. For more
information, please see the following link:

We are less than 2 months away from Hurricane Season. Those people
that live in the affected area of hurricanes can take early
mitigation/preparation efforts now to help protect life and property
and ease the preparations if their region becomes threatened by a
hurricane this season.
Preparations during this time of the year can also include
fortifying EchoLink and IRLP nodes with emergency power and making
sure they are operational if a hurricane threatens as there maybe
little time to do this if a hurricane is bearing down on your area.
Doing this work now can assist WX4NHC with timely weather and damage
reports for the protection of life and property. The Weekly VoIP
Hurricane Net is a great place to test out your node. With the
Raleigh system still down for maintenance, you can find the weekly
VoIP Hurricane Net on IRLP Reflector 9508, EchoLink Node *VKEMCOMM*,
Node #: 270177.
Also, we are looking for net controls for our weekly net and for
activations. Please contact me if you're interested. A recruitment
email was sent to the list on Saturday. We appreciate many of you
who listen, however, my hope is that some of you will assist us in
actual net operations. Its a great opportunity to make a difference
and provide a crucial public service for WX4NHC, the Amateur Radio
Station at the National Hurricane Center.
Thanks to all of you for your continued support of the VoIP
Hurricane Net!
