Hi everyone,

With Field Day less than three weeks away we are trying to get a handle on
who is attending, what they are doing and inform you of areas we still need
help in. Lets start with the last one first.

We need help in one very critical area, and a few less critical:

GOTA station. We really need someone to handle this very important facet of
Field Day. Last year the GOTA station made hundreds of contacts, most by new
or inexperienced operators. With many potential new operators on site again
this year it would be a shame to not get behind a GOTA station 100%.

If you are a new operator you can still champion the GOTA station. There
will be many experienced ops to help with setup and guidance in operation.
Equipment is not a problem, the club either has or can procure whatever is
necessary to build the station.

How about the Venture Crew? Isn't this exactly what the sponsorship of HCRA
is all about? Here is your chance to give back to your club and show the fun
of amateur radio to new participants?

What say you gang? Anyone out there up to the challenge?

Additional area we still need help with:

1. Sending 10 NTS messages (worth 100 points)
2. Convincing an elected official to visit the site (100 points)
3. Maybe some different 'new mode' demonstrations? We are covered but they
are getting a bit long in the tooth. It would be nice to see some new ones.

The GOTA station is the key to making this another Field Day to remember.
Hopefully one of our over 100 members will be able to find the time to make
GOTA happen. Please contact either Peter mailto:ki1i at arrl.net or myself
mailto:jmullen at rockys.com if you feel you have the time. We can hook you up
with a mentor, ensure you will have equipment and schedule the setup. All
you need to do is add the excitement and be willing to help get new or
inexperienced operators on the air and having fun.

Keep up to date with all the FD changes by visiting:
http://www.hcra.org/fd2005.htm. Clear you schedule, mark your calendars and
prepare for lots of fun, the HCRA way.

I have tried to keep the web pages as current as possible with the
participants but it is like trying to hit a moving target. If you see
something that should be changed, added or deleted please drop me an email
and I will make the corrections.

Andy is all set with the food and a delicious menu will be available (at
reasonable prices too!) for everyone attending.

The park is beautiful, summer has finally arrived, we've got many new hams -
what better way to enjoy the last full weekend of June?
