[HCRA] APRS help

Hi HCRA,
I am wondering if anyone could explain the use of Mt. Tom's APRS digipeater?  Is there a specific protocol that I should use to send out an APRS location on that frequency?  Also, Mt. Tom is just for local and digi'ed RF.  I get lots of traffic but no position information (could be my settings on the TNC).  Do we have access to an internet TCPIP connection too?  So many questions.  FYI I am running APRSPoint software http://www.aprspoint.com/index.htm
