The following is forwarded from the TARC Listserv
----------------------
Ham radio operators from the area are busy down in the affect areas.
Channel 13 (Warren Elly) did a piece on this last night. There should be a
video clip on the Tampa Amateur Radio Club's website: http://www.hamclub.org
Listening-wise, from this area, most of the traffic is on the "Big Stick"
repeater system: http://www.k4wcf.org/k4wcf.htm
Local "Big Stick" frequencies are: 145.43, 146.76, 145.29, 442.95,
443.45. The whole system is linked, so you should hear the same traffic on
all the frequencies.
Down in the area there are several ham repeaters operational.
On HF / Shortwave, most of the activity is on 20 meters (14 MHz). 14.265
SATERN - Salvation Army 14.300 MMN - Maritime Mobile Net 14.325 HWN -
Hurricane Watch Net
Search and rescue teams often include ham operators and work simplex
(non-repeater) frequencies. The Florida Task force was using at least
146.55.
I don't know what is being used outside of ham frequencies, but the 800MHz
mutual aid frequencies are definitely active.
