Here are my comments to item #9:

As a point of reference, there is a wonderful
contesting club right in our general area: Yankee
Clipper Contest Club (YCCC).  World class in fact! 
Lots of good information is at www.yccc.org. Several
HCRA members are also members of YCCC (including me). 
For the big contests (ARRL DX, CQWW) my scores get
sent to YCCC (although I've been basically off the air
the past two contest seasons, but thats a'changin!).

As for all the other contests available during the
year, and there are lots, I think it would be fun to
get more of HCRA ops on the air.  Contesting is a
great way to learn about propagation, antennas, rigs,
computers, etc.  It generates activity, excitement,
and alittle wallpaper for the shack if you
plan/operate well.

So, in that spirit, I'll volunteer to lead a contest
thrust for the club.
