That was one fine meeting we had this past Friday from what I can gather.
One counter said we had 71 attendees. That's
close to 70% (assuming a few visitors).
Of the 49 people who chose to take part in our unofficial poll 25 felt the
FCC should drop the CW requirement from amateur exams, while 24 chose to
keep the code as part of the exam process.
That's just about an even split and I'm glad I'm not the one making the
decision!
As far as improving the club goes we received the following comments:
1. Special event station at Inddian Motocycle (3 comments)Great idea,
<but is Indian Motocycle the only group to consider?>
2. Training seminar on digital modes. <Fantastic Idea.>
3. Start auction 1 hour earlier <Another fantastic idea>
4. Club is going fine now <but how long will it continue, if we do not
improve?>
5. Holiday Party at restaurant < Do a majority feel this way? Maybe we
should poll the membership>
6. No suggestions, doing a fine job now<see #4 above>>
7. amned good job at present<ditto #4>
8. HCRA is doing fine<and one more time for #4>
9. More club contesting<Certainly a great idea. Who wants to head up this
effort?>
10. Promote fox hunting <See #9.>
11. Nothing, keep it the same<see #4.>
12. Morse code classes<and we think CW is dead?>
13. Happy with present activities<see #4>
14. Would like to know more about club's history< This really hits home.
How and when? I have many resources to do this.>
15. Party-other than religious or political etc.<for instance?>
16. More information aimed at new people and new hams<Us old timers forget
what the new hams would like. How about a volunteer to head this up?>
17. Information for public and advertising of Field Day<Obviously the PIO
did not do his job this past field day. Who will volunteer to replace him?>
18. More public service events (walkathons, etc)<Until a few months ago it
was very difficult to find enough volunteer to cover the events we did do. I
must admit that has changed since the last licensing class. Great going new
hams.>
19. At least one public demo a year outside of Field Day< like a special
event station? See #1>
20. Meeting night not the best (for the writer)< No matter when you hold a
meeting, someone will not be able to make it. But is Friday evening the best
for the majority? Let the Board of directors know.>
Anyone wishing to address these concerns and comments, have at it here and
of course we will bring them up to the Board.
Thanks for your input,
Jim WB!Z
