I'm sorry I missed another great meeting, but I understand everyone had a
good time. We all need to work together to keep BPL from taking away a big
part of our enjoyment of radio. A special thanks should go out to Tom, K1KI
for making time in his busy schedule to address our members about BPL threat
and other important matters.
The annual auction is our next event, and it's only a month away. If you're
thinking of disposing of some old ham radio gear, or really have the need to
get more 'stuff' - the auction will satisfy your needs! We usually have an
attendance of about 100 people and it's a lot of fun. Gear for sale ranges
from the very cheap 'boxes of misc. stuff' to modern day transceivers at
bargain prices. Now's the time to either start pulling out stuff to sell or
saving money to buy. And of course you'll want to purchase some tickets to
win a Yaesu FT-8900 quad-bander, won't you? You can view more details at:
http://www.hcra.org/auction.htm. Too embarrassed to put some of that really
old 'junque' up for sale? Why not donate it to HCRA, all the proceeds will
help out the club and Jim and Jim (the auctioneers) aren't too embarrassed
to sell anything!! Mark your calendars and bring a friend! The auction is a
excellent way to get someone started in our fun hobby.
Andy, KB1FVL will be the go-to person for our annual Holiday Party. A
special thanks to Andy for stepping forward and volunteering to help out.
Andy was responsible for the great food we had at Field Day this year so I'm
sure the meal will be delicious. Like everything else it's a lot easier with
some extra help. If you have some spare time, why not contact Andy and give
him a hand with the planning and execution of our annual get together. Our
featured speaker will be our own Dave, KB1MU with a brief presentation of
HCRA through the years.
As always, thanks for your continued participation in club activities.
You're efforts keep the HCRA at the top as an active Pioneer Valley radio
club. Additionally, together we are a much stronger voice as we attempt to
beat away everyone that is trying to squeeze us out of our hobby.
'73... and see you at the auction,
Jim, KK1W
